For this complex resection, we worked closely with the surgeon to define a precise strategy, taking into account every essential detail.

Through in-depth technical exchanges, we developed a cutting guide that preserves the S1 foramen on the right while directing the cutting planes straight toward the tumor.

To optimize the procedure, adjustments were made, including a planned laminectomy on the sacral vertebrae.

The guide, designed to float above the sacral crest, attaches to the iliac crest and is secured with four pins, offering stability and precision during the cut.

Each step was carefully thought out to streamline the work in the operating room and ensure optimal results for the patient.

These exchanges highlight the importance of personalization and precision in surgical planning.

At 3D-Side, we are committed to providing solutions that simplify the work of surgeons while maximizing patient benefits.

Last year, over 300 surgeons specialized in arthroplasty chose to use our platform to support their procedures. We are truly grateful for their trust and commitment.

We look forward to continuing our work with them and welcoming new professionals who want to benefit from a tailored solution for the shoulder, ankle, or knee.

Every collaboration helps us grow and contribute, in our own way, to improving patient care.

We recently collaborated on a complex case involving the resection of a mandibular tumor, followed by reconstruction using a fibular autograft.

This procedure, performed at Clinique universitaire St Luc by Dr. Sandra Schmitz, benefited from the use of patient-specific surgical guides developed by our team.

The case involved a large tumor lesion in the left mandible, which required complete resection with strict safety margins. Preoperative simulations allowed us to plane reconstruction using two parts of the patient´s fibula.

The reconstruction was successfully achieved and the autografts helped the surgeon to restore functionality of the mandible.

Our Contribution:

Advanced 3D Planning: Precise modeling of the vessels and bone structures to assess the feasibility of fibula harvesting.

Custom Surgical Guides: Guides secured with screws, featuring cylindrical windows to ensure proper positioning during surgery.

Key Surgical Steps:

 - Accurate resection of the mandible following pre-planned margins.

 - Preparation and shaping of the fibula autograft according to validated dimensions.

 - Successful reconstruction for optimal stabilization.

This collaboration highlights the importance of a tailored approach to address each patient’s unique needs.

We sincerely thank Dr. Sandra Schmitz and her team for their trust and precision in this project.
