A patient with a femoral tumor located near the joint line, where every millimeter preserved can impact long-term function.
The planning was based on a reduced safety margin of 3 mm.
Three cutting planes were defined to remove the tumor while restoring cortical continuity and minimizing bone loss.
A collapsed condyle added complexity to the reconstruction.
A fourth cutting plane was introduced to reproduce this altered geometry on the allograft, ensuring a smooth transition between native bone and graft.
Two cutting guides were produced — one for the resection, the other for graft adaptation
Stabilization was secured for the resection guide using five K-wires,, with careful control of drilling depths at each step.
The outcome: a precise resection, preserved trochlear congruence, and a stable reconstruction despite significant anatomical constraints.
Thank you to Dr Françoic Sirveaux for the clarity of communication and the trust throughout the planning process.
