3D planning software and patient-specific surgical guides for shoulder arthroplasty

3D-Side, a specialist in 3D surgical planning and patient-specific device manufacturing, has produced and delivered patient-specific instruments for the Archer PSI system, developed by Catalyst OrthoScience. All devices have been successfully used as part of a limited market release ahead of full U.S. commercial launch.

The milestone follows FDA 510(k) clearance of the Archer PSI system and comes during Catalyst’s phased U.S. market introduction.

Devices have been deployed in both anatomic and reverse shoulder arthroplasty cases, covering glenoid and humeral preparation – a combination that remains rare among patient-specific instrumentation offerings in the shoulder segment.

3D-Side’s role spans the full workflow: translating preoperative 3D planning into precision-manufactured surgical guides tailored to each patient’s anatomy.

The collaboration with Catalyst demonstrates the company’s ability to take a partner from regulatory clearance through to active clinical use at scale.

“Reaching this milestone highlights the maturity and robustness of our software and manufacturing platforms,” said Laurent Paul, CEO of 3D-Side. “This project demonstrates our ability to support industry partners from development through to clinical deployment of patient-specific solutions.”

With the phased rollout underway, 3D-Side is proud to support Catalyst’s broader commercial expansion across the U.S. shoulder arthroplasty market. 3D-Side Delivers Patient-Specific Instruments for Catalyst OrthoScience https://bonezonepub.com/2026/03/06/3d-side-delivers-patient-specific-instruments-for-catalyst-orthoscience/
